My journey to JPC Community Farm started just after I finished my degree in Psychology. I was undecided on how best to use my degree. Since COVID hit the world, it also left me entirely confused and anxious about what the future held for me.
Luckily, fate took over and led me to JPC Community farm. My mum had already joined the small team and established a new service guiding young people with disabilities on how to be as independent as they can be. I came on board to aid in the development of this programme. Together we developed a new course which has evolved over time to what it is today. I was taken on full time and am just about to begin a teaching qualification.
Like many, I have had my fair share of mental health issues. Therefore, from a professional and personal prospective I can empathise with many young people and advise them should with any of their concerns. I love knowing I can make a difference to a young person’s life. The benefit I see on a daily basis is overwhelming, the expansion of skills, increased self-confidence and overall happiness makes every day worthwhile.
From the start, my transition to JPC Community Farm has been organic and every day I feel blessed to be part of this project.
