On Saturday 20th May 2017 The JBC accountants team competed against the might of inflatables and foam in the Gungho course, Leeds and bounced, climbed, crawled and slid their way to the finish line to raise funds for the JPC charity organisation supporting the construction and maintenance of the local charity that will create a big difference across our region.
The Gungho course challenges participants in both the physically and mentally needing fitness and strong determination to overcome the inflatable obstacle course which requires teamwork to overcome. The course length was 5km and participants had to leap hurdles, scale the tall inflatable mountain peaks, and dodge between the inflatable pillars whilst keeping an eye on the competition on either side sending the pillars your direction. As the team ran a constant stream of encouragement from the other members was needed but when it comes to the tunnels the team had to get down low on their hands and knees and army crawl through the darkness waiting for the light at the end of the tunnel to continue to the next obstacle.
The race was not just against the other teams or for personal pride it was also against the weather with black rain clouds looming and coming ever closer. As they participants ran around the final corner to see the final hurdle it required the team to assist each other pulling each other up and over and descending in pairs. The Final part seemed the most fun descending in pairs into a big foam pit with a lot of shouting of excitement and happiness to have completed the monstrous course that was challenging and fun.
